AC Repair FAQs in Thousand Palms, CA
A congested or blocked condenser coil may be the cause of your air conditioner operating but failing to cool your home. In order to remove heat energy from your house, the condenser fan sucks air into the outside unit through the condenser coil. Dust, grass and other airborne material can accumulate between the fans and jam the coil. Reduced energy efficiency, a lack of cold air from the registers, system shutdown or compressor damage can all be caused by a filthy coil.
A refrigerant leak might also make your air conditioner less effective at cooling your house. If you don’t have refrigerant, it will force your AC to run longer than necessary. This could damage the compressor, or even cause the entire system to shut down.
Installing central air conditioning costs $5,651 on average, with installation prices ranging from $3,800 to $7,500, depending on the system. Pricing largely depends on the unit type, size, energy efficiency and the design of your home.
Relocate harmful chemicals in your home away from your main living space. Paint, cleaning materials and other chemicals should never be left in your primary living air where you could be inhaling fumes. Store them in your basement if possible for cleaner air upstairs.
Opening windows for quick, easy and natural ventilation. Open windows help stale air pollutants circulate out of your home so you can breathe fresh air easier.
Replace your outdated thermostat with a model that offers circulation mode. Newer thermostats will operate your indoor fan for 20 minutes every hour, or enable the fan to run constantly at a low speed to provide consistent circulation.
