Thor, son-in-law of Barry Hyde, is one of our installers and has worked for Hydes for four years. His favorite part of the job is that it’s hands-on and he gets to meet new people on a daily basis. When Thor is not installing new AC systems, he enjoys skateboarding and listening to music. Temps were predicted to be triple digits, so I was thrilled Hyde’s provided service to my air conditioner the day that I called! Thor, my technician, was very prompt and professional in diagnosing the problems with my air conditioner! Thank you, Thor! I have 5 ac units. 2 had leaks.Tgey devised a plan and communicated the plan very effectively as the executed it. Where one problem couldn’t be resolved- they didn’t charge for the inspection. Thor is responsible, reportable and reliable. Hyde’s has been a real pro organization for years regarding my ac and Generac servicing.

Homeowner stated she hears loud banging sound intermittently at random times a couple times a week at upstairs near unit by thermostat. She had friend come over and cycle system a few times and he stated he did not hear anything either on 3-way phone call. Informed not sure what it could be if fan is not making noise and it is going off at random . Informed there would be the trip charge and diagnostic if we go out and don’t find anything. Informed most likely there is nothing caused from maintenance and so there would be a charge to come out.
Inspected Bosch package unit and tested at 100%. Inside Honeywell t6 was set off and indoor temperature of 80 degrees. Set to cool and it was set for 72. Inspected rooftop plenums and all sealed inside and outside. Getting proper supply temp and delta-t (23). Checked at each room supply register to see if any loss in ducting or attic, same temperatures at all registers (55 degrees). Checked temperature at return and thermostat is calibrated properly and reading correct temperature. System and ductwork are working properly and getting proper cooling capacity delivered. Spoke with homeowner and he stated yesterday (Sunday 5/11/24) and outdoor temperature of was 101, and he stated indoor temperature would not get below 85. Currently 90 degrees and indoor temp was dripping from 81 to 78 in 15 minutes. Will need to come back out next day it’s 100 or above to test under higher heat load conditions. Door is locked back up, key is back in lockbox and closed and passcode reset.
Performed cooling maintenance on (2) 2007 Carrier gas package units on roof. Changed (2) ceiling filters. Nest thermostats working properly. Cleaned rooftop condenser coils. Cleaned out electrical compartment. Checked amps, volts, capacitors, refrigerant charge, and temperature splits. Found living room 3-ton (serial #1134) with low temperature split of 10 degrees (should be cooling air closer to 20) so I checked with gauges and found system low on refrigerant charge. This system has had to have refrigerant added before. Recommend system replacement versus costly repair and against adding refrigerant that is getting more expensive and will leak out. Called to go over maintenance report and discuss issue with refrigerant. No answer. Doors are locked up and thermostats are set to same settings as upon arrival.
Performed cooling maintenance on 20+ year old Lennox package unit on roof. Changed 24x24 filter. Nest thermostat working properly. Cleared condensation drain. Cleaned condenser coil. Cleaned out electrical compartment. Checked amps, volts, capacitors, refrigerant charge/temperature split. System is cooling ok at time of service. System is well past average life expectancy and showing lots of wear and tear. Highly recommend replacement before a major breakdown during high temperatures.

Cleared condensation drain from garage furnace, recommended adding a water float switch at drain lines to prevent water damage to circuit board and blower motor if drains backup from dirt or mud, terminates outside. Cleaned out drive compartments. Cleaned condenser coils. Checked all system parameters with CDAs. Checked temperature splits (20-21). Systems are cooling properly at time of maintenance.
Performed cooling maintenance on 2014 5-ton Goodman gas package unit on roof. Changed (2) 14x30 upper wall filters. Snow nest thermostat working properly. Cleared condensation drain. Cleaned out electrical compartment. Cleaned condenser coil. Checked amps, volts, capacitors, refrigerant charge/ temperature split. Inspected blower wheel, ECM motor. Found starting amps for compressor above max rated (LRA:134) buck and boost start cap only reading 55uf, too weak to help. Recommend per and installed a hard start kit with relay. Tested start amps and they are now 104, start kit working properly. 2-year warranty. System is cooling properly now at time of maintenance.

Recommended and installed a hard start kit to assist for smoother startups, prolonging the life of the compressor motor. System is cooling properly at time of service.

Homeowner had concern ductless was running constantly, found fan setting on medium and not AUTO, this will make fan run constantly. Switches to auto , ductless cooling properly. Checked 1050 thermostats and CDAa for any alerts, history, none found. Checked amps, volts, refrigerant chargers and temperature splits. Homeowner having dryness humidity issues. No room for whole home humidifiers. They have individual humidifiers. Switched settings from comfort (humidity removal) to efficiency (more airflow/more humidity). As far as room sensor, they are getting new windows as living room has large windows letting in high heat load, they were thinking of putting sensor by window but I informed that would cause system to think it’s much hotter and run constantly. Performed cooling maintenance on 2012 3-ton Lennox split system(r410a). Changed 20x30 and 14x14 filters. Honeywell t10 thermostat working properly . Went over thermostat functions with homeowner, scheduling disabled all they have to do is increase or decrease setpoint. Cleaned out electrical compartment. Cleaned condenser coil. Checked amps, volts, capacitor, refrigerant charge and temperature split. System is cooling properly at time of maintenance. Went over system age (13 years) and average life expectancy of 10-15 years in our area. Due to age I recommend looking at replacing the system to avoid inconvenient breakdowns and peace of mind of a 10 year part warranty from Hyde’s. Also informed their pressures were fluctuating indicating possible air in system, would recommend system replacement over removing charge and recharging system.
