Performed a cooling maintenance on a split BRYANT unit. According to electrical readings, compressor motor is starting 39 amps above manufacturer recommendations. After installing a compressor saver kit, starting amperage would not drop below manufacturers recommendations. Very high starting amps on a compressor are signs of eminent failure. Informed client of system conditions and gave her the option of being proactive or reactive. Outdoor unit and indoor evaporator coil have to be replaced due to outdated R-22 refrigerant, not just compressor motor alone. System is 21 years of age, which is beyond life expectancy of HVAC units. System is currently cooling the home. Gate space is 35" for condenser unit.
