I highly recommend Danny Hyde from Hyde’s AC. Our A/C stopped cooling properly right in the middle of the desert heat, which is an absolute emergency out here. Danny came out first thing Monday morning (right after 4th of July!) to diagnose the issue. He was incredibly informative, took the time to explain exactly what was going on, and kept me completely abreast of the situation. Because a specific part was needed, he returned first thing the very next morning with a helper and the part in hand to complete the repair. It is hard to find that level of professionalism, clear communication, and prompt service in the valley. If you need honest, reliable HVAC service, ask for Danny.

Followup to Understand Ecobee Thermostat

Had new AC installed along with Ecobee smart thermostats - Danny came over and explained exactly how they work - he changed a couple of setting to that the Ecobee displayed temperature better reflected actual temperature - explained how the variable speed fans worked. Smart thermostats are different from older thermostats and it was helpful to clearly understand how the mart Ecobee works. Was in installation warranty follow-up.

Upon arrival client stated system was cooling then stopped then seem to cool a little but still not working. Found system off on error codes. Found error codes 126 which is communication error. Found outdoor unit had 16 volts dc when it needs to be 12 volts dc. Found corroded cap nuts at unit, fix wires and still same error code. Tried extra wire and still same issue. Found cap nuts corroded right by the garage door before wire goes under ground, fixed cap nuts. Same issue occurred. Pulled wire out of wall and found exposed low voltage wires, fixed wires. Same issue occurred. Ran temporary low voltage wires and found 12 volts dc, issue resolved with new low voltage wire. Went to cycle system and found indoor unit off line. Rebooted and found same issue with indoor offline. Removed indoor unit and tried to bring back online however thermostat would not find indoor unit. Factory restored system and thermostat would still not find indoor unit. Found bad circuit board, see corrosion on boa

Upon arrival client stated they have been out of town and now the ac is not working. Found blown high voltage fuse on one leg. Found only one leg getting power. Found partially tripped breaker. Reset breaker and changed fuse. Cycled system. Advised client on possible weak breaker or surge. Recommend panel tune up or replacement of breaker.

Upon arrival client stated master bedroom system S-2976 not cooling. Found system off on high pressure switch. Bypassed switch and cycled system. Found systems compressor amps rated for 22 and reading 24. Found systems pressure to high. Found system overheated. Cooled down compressor and washed condenser coils. Cycled system and found high side pressure was to high with 30 sub cooling. Checked filter drier, no issue. Balanced out refrigerant to proper manufacture specifications. System has had a lot of issues since the install. Sent over condenser and coil replacement.

Found issue is intermittent nest issue where it says cooling however doesn’t give a y signal. Advised client they need new thermostat. Client stated senergy installed it for free three months ago and will call them.

Upon arrival client stated thermostat 1050 cooling however stuck so you can touch the screen to do anything. Rebooted thermostat and tested. Advised if issue occurs again will need to change thermostat. Also found condensate line completely plugged. Flushed condensate line with jones valve. Advised we can change location of condensate line to drain right outside the furnace closet. Also recommend water safety switch.

Cycled system and found fan motor spins backwards three spins then spins slowly forward making noise. Then ramps up and sounds normal. Cycled other system and found normal start up. Advised we will replace the condenser fan motor. Office will call and schedule once motor is in.

Upon arrival client stated garage mini split not cooling well and seems to not be taking the humidity out of the air. Stated also beeping noise. Found system is getting 59 degree out of the supply indicating proper charge. Client had also put fan mode to high. Advised when fan is high speed it doesn’t take as much humidity out of the air. Put fan mode back to auto mode to lower fan speed to remove moisture out of air. Turned system off and beeping noise still occurred. Advised beep is not coming from the system. System is properly running.

Installed jones valve and flushed condensate line. Signed client up on yearly agreement and scheduled next visit. Client would like to replace system next winter time.

Upon arrival client stated system not cooling very well and won’t go below 75. Found system low on refrigerant. Added three pounds of r410a. Checked for oil around condenser. Advised client system most likely has a leak. Recommend leak search in the winter time. Installed ecobee thermostat and connected to clients app. Showed client how to use thermostat. System properly running at this time.

Client stated noise still occurring. Stated guest rooms would blow really hard and nothing from master bedroom. Then system would cycle off and cool normally. Advised must be stuck damper. Client wasn’t sure if we installed dampers. Previous invoices doesn’t show we installed dampers. Advised to sign estimate and if we installed damper it will be under warranty however if we didn’t then it wouldn’t be under warranty.

Removed old compressor and install new compressor and harness. Found compressor terminals and harness burnt. Pressurized system and pulled vacuum. Recharged system 12 pounds of r410a.

Returned and put zone panel back to thermostat not percentage. Cycled just guest room , then cycled with master no noise issue. Created all different scenarios with turning thermostat off and on. Found no noise issue. Removed y2 at guest bedroom thermostat. Opened living area damper from 0-3 and left on 1 so air will bleed into living area slightly always. Advised client I still believe master bedroom damper is sticking sometimes creating the bed pressure noise to guest rooms. Advised if noise occurs to verify master bedroom calling for cooling and to check if air is coming out. If noise occurs air is coming out then the damper is sticking.
