Performed a cooling maintenance on a 2005 BRYANT gas package. The refrigerant circuit diagnostic was good. Hermetic capacitor was found measuring below manufacturer specifications 30/35uf. Low capacitors add excessive heat to the motor. Evaporative coil was full of grit, dirt and debris. Estimate sent for evap cleaning. Disconnect box used to cut power to the package unit is in very poor shape and not good for service. During the maintenance, the disconnect broke in my hand, leaving the fuse in the box. Recommend replacing disconnect box for future service. Estimates sent via email. Club membership has also been sent via email. Home is currently under remodel and system is cooling the home at the time of maintenance.

Arrived to diagnose the issue of the jacuzzi breaker tripping when the air conditioning unit is turned on. During the inspection of the breaker and the bus bar in the panel, I noted that the AC breaker was oversized for the AC unit and wiring. The bus bar in the panel was in good condition. The AC unit shows signs of aging and may draw higher current during initial startup. I discussed my findings with the homeowner and recommended replacing the 60-amp breaker with a 50-amp breaker for the AC circuit. I also advised installing a start-up kit or replacing the AC unit. The homeowner agreed to proceed with replacing the 60-amp breaker for the time being.

Miquel is very professional and trust worthy. This is a fast different experience from when Frank Velarde was my tech. Frank would come up with random amounts of Freon every time he visited. He lied on 4 occasions telling me I had a leak and it cost hundreds to inspect and repair. Frank constantly has bad reviews online. Even after I brought this to attention of management they did nothing. If it wasn’t for honest techs like Miquel Jimenez I would have dumped Hydes 2 years ago. If you are giving employees incentives to up-charge customers at least get ones who are good at it. Frank Velarde is a joke.
Carl - Cathedral City, CA 92234
Response from Hydes Air Conditioning:

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear Miguel provided the professional and trustworthy service we strive for. We do take concerns about past service seriously. Recommendations involving refrigerant or leak detection are based on the system’s condition at the time, which can change over time. We understand how repeated repairs can feel frustrating and regret if any part of the process felt unclear. For context, Frank has been with our team for over 10 years and maintains an average customer rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars across many reviews. While that doesn’t discount your experience, it does reflect a strong and consistent track record. We also want to be clear that we do not incentivize technicians to upsell unnecessary services. Our focus is always on accurate diagnostics and honest recommendations.

Workers do not communicate with Barry. They will not do what Barry told me they would do when he came out for an estimate. They take the easiest, fastest, and cheapest way out. They will take things that aren't theirs to take. I tried to tell Barry how his employees are, he wouldn't listen to me. I am a disabled older lady who has been taken advantage of.
Heather - Cathedral City, CA 92234
Response from Hydes Air Conditioning:

Hi Heather, this review is confusing and does not reflect what actually occurred. You are not the homeowner, and we spoke directly with him yesterday—everything has been resolved, and he apologized for the confusion surrounding this review. For context, the air conditioning system was installed six months ago and was fully approved by the homeowner, the city, and the HOA. Additionally, you spoke with Barry about three weeks ago regarding the condensate drain line, and at that time you confirmed you understood and were satisfied with the explanation. Posting a negative review weeks later, after acknowledging the answer and without any new issues being raised, is misleading. If there are any legitimate concerns, we are always available to address them directly.
