Heating and Cooling Service FAQs
It costs around $3,500-$12,000+ to replace an air conditioning unit in Palm Springs, CA. Price will vary based on several factors:
- The size of your house.
- The type of air conditioning unit you have installed.
- The cost to remove your current AC unit.
Getting your current air conditioning unit replaced is a good way to improve the climate control in your home and also cut down on energy and repair costs.
Your AC unit may be running but not cooling your home in Palm Springs, CA because:
- Your air filters are blocked
- Your AC unit has a refrigerant leak
- Your evaporator coil is dirty or frozen
If your AC unit is running but not cooling your home, there may be a deeper issue going on with your air conditioner. If you replace your air filters and set your thermostat correctly and it is still not working properly, you should have an HVAC technician repair your AC unit.
Minor HVAC repairs, such as fuses, breakers or thermostat replacement, cost between $150 and $290. You can expect to spend $200 to $1,500 on substantial repairs such as repairing a refrigerant leak or evaporator coil.
Additional heating and cooling repairs will increase the cost, but keeping your furnace and central air conditioning system in good working order will save you money in the long run. The cost of air conditioning repair will also vary depending on the size of your home and the brand and type of heating and cooling system you have installed.
For simple tune-ups, regular AC maintenance costs $75 to $200. Extended service contracts range from $150 to $500 and cover the entire HVAC system, including heating and cooling.
Maintenance calls typically include cleaning the condenser and performing a series of checks to ensure that your system is operating properly. We'll also look for other repair and maintenance issues. Standard AC tune-ups do not usually include evaporator coil or duct cleaning.
The best time to have AC maintenance done is in spring, but if your air conditioning tune-up was overlooked, you can have it done anytime during summer to improve your AC’s performance.

Was blowing hot before the tech came. Tech fixed problem and new blows cold. Yippee and Yay!
Charles and Eli arrived on time to install a few new backyard lights. They were both very friendly and professional. Charles made suggestions as to the best location for the lights. He also made an accommodation by installing an extra light I had without charging anything extra. The job was completed within an hour and I have to say that I would absolutely call on Hydes again for my electrical needs!
So glad to hear that Michael!

Demand Service – No Cooling Unit Info: 1993 / 4-Ton Rooftop Package Unit Findings: Upon arrival, set thermostat to cool mode. The indoor blower activated, but the air coming from the vents was not very cold. Went to the rooftop and found the system running at 22 amps, exceeding the unit’s maximum rated amperage of 19 amps. Shut the system down and tested components. Found the capacitor testing very weak. Actions Taken: • Installed a test capacitor and cycled the system. • Verified proper operation and checked refrigerant levels. • Contacted homeowner to explain findings and recommendations. Recommendations: • Replace weak capacitor • Install a hard start kit to reduce startup load • Recommend enrolling in our maintenance membership club Client approved all recommendations. Repairs Completed: • Replaced capacitor • Installed hard start kit • Checked voltage and starting amperage after repair • Rinsed condenser coil Outcome: System is now operating within proper limits

Bad booking but good technician
Alex was great, fast and extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend him and Hyde’s
Charles, the Hyde's technician, was right on time and very personable from the minute we met. He listened intently to the lighting needs I have for my backyard and made a suggestion that I hadn't even thought of before he said something. He knew exactly what I wanted and said that installation would not be an issue. He promised me a quote within 20 minutes and made good on that promise. Four years ago I contacted Hyde's to install new lighting for my front and back yards. Best decision I ever made. I am very happy and satisfied to be doing business with Hyde's once again.
